Monochrome is a decision, not an absence

Removing color from an object forces everything else to carry it: shape, surface, the way light moves along a polished edge. This is the only variant in the collection where the two components share a color, and the result is that the eye stops separating chain from cord and starts reading silhouette instead. Caligio observes that Black & Black is chosen most often by men who already own a chain and want a second one that behaves differently rather than looks different.

Why two rows

A single black chain would read as a thin dark line. Two rows of round box chain bound together by woven cord stay flat and face-up, so the bracelet reads as one solid black band with real width. Because chain and cord share a color, the band looks continuous from any distance, and only close up does the construction show.

Where it sits in your rotation

Black metal belongs beside black metal: a black-cased watch, a matte black shackle, a dark leather strap. 316L surgical stainless steel

The chain and clasp are made from 316L surgical stainless steel, the medical-grade alloy used in surgical implants and premium watch cases. Its high chromium content forms a self-repairing oxide layer on the surface, which is why 316L does not rust, does not tarnish, and does not turn skin green. It contains no nickel available to the skin and no copper, so it is safe for sensitive wrists and continuous daily wear.

Black ion plating

The black finish is applied through ion plating, a vacuum process in the physical vapor deposition family, the same method used on blacked-out tool watches. Ion plating drives the color into the surface of the steel at the molecular level rather than resting on top of it the way traditional plating does. The result is a finish that is harder than the steel beneath it, resists scratching, and holds its depth through years of daily wear.

Woven cord

Black marine-grade cord runs between the two rows of links, dyed through the fiber rather than coated on the surface. Because chain and cord share a color, small marks and everyday wear stay invisible on this variant in a way they never do on two-tone pieces.

Care

• Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear. This is the only routine care the piece needs.
• Showers, rain, sweat, and pool water are fine for the steel, the ion-plated finish, and the cord.
• Rinse with fresh water and pat dry after salt water or chlorine.
• Put it on after cologne, sunscreen, or lotion, once the skin is dry.
• Store it in the Caligio pouch bag, away from pieces that could scratch the finish.
• Skip bleach, alcohol, abrasive cleaners, and ultrasonic jewelry machines. Abrasives are the one thing that can dull an ion-plated surface.

Skin sensitivity

Green wrist marks come from copper alloys, and fading comes from thin electroplating. This piece uses neither. If you have reacted to jewelry before, 316L steel is the alloy dermatologists point to as the safe default, and the hypoallergenic range at Caligio is built on it.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

If you ordered the wrong size, color, or simply would like to return the product, you can do so within 30 days from the delivery date. To be eligible, the item must be unworn and in its original packaging, free from any odors (deodorant, perfume), stains, or signs of wear. The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
