Metal has a temperature, and this one matches the leather

Every metal a jeweler uses sits somewhere on a warm-to-cool axis. Gold is warm. Bronze is warm and quieter. Steel is cool, and rhodium is colder still. Colors work the same way, and blue is the coolest color there is. Infinity Blue Steel Python puts a cool leather against a cool metal, and the effect of that agreement is specific: the eye stops seeing two materials and starts seeing one object. Where a contrasting frame announces the join between steel and leather, a matched frame erases it. The bracelet reads as a single piece of blue that happens to have a metal edge.

Why blue python is never one blue

Blue is the color most sensitive to the light it is standing in. Under daylight, which is cool, this bracelet reads as a clean saturated blue. Under a tungsten bulb or a restaurant's warm lighting, the same leather drifts toward navy and slate. Add python's overlapping scales, each one catching the room at its own angle, and the cuff you looked at in the morning is not quite the cuff on your wrist at dinner. Flat printed leather cannot do this. It has one surface and returns one color.

What this bracelet is

An open cuff on a 316L stainless steel frame in steel tone, faced in genuine blue python leather, with no clasp. Three sizes, which are three degrees of opening: Small up to 6.7 inches, Medium up to 7.2 inches, Large up to 7.7 inches. Unisex. The identical leather on a warm bronze frame is Infinity Blue Python Shine Bronze, and the two look nothing alike. Wrists above 8 inches are covered by the XL collection. Two materials, one of which is alive

The 316L stainless steel frame needs nothing from you. It does not rust, tarnish, or lose its spring. The python leather bonded to it is skin, and skin has requirements. Everything below is about the leather.

Python is not waterproof

Do not swim in it, shower in it, or leave it soaking. Water pulls the natural oils out of leather; the fiber stiffens as it dries, and the next flex cracks it. On a cuff the damage appears first where the arc curves most, and at the scale edges, which are the thinnest part of the surface. Occasional rain is not a problem. Repeated soaking, and heat applied to wet leather, are what ruin an exotic-skin bracelet. Caligio builds an entire waterproof bracelets collection for the wrist that lives in water.

Blue fades in sunlight, not in daily life

Friction does nothing to the color of dyed python. Ultraviolet light does. A week spent on a car dashboard costs more blue than a year spent on a wrist, and the loss is permanent because the pigment sitting on the hard scale tops is the first to go. Storing the cuff in its pouch rather than on a windowsill solves the entire problem.

Care

• Take it off before water, and put it on after cologne, sunscreen, and hand cream.
• If it gets wet, blot with a towel and dry at room temperature. Never a radiator, a hairdryer, or direct sun.
• Wipe along the scales with a dry cloth, never against them. A cloth run backward lifts scale edges.
• Condition two or three times a year with a colorless leather balm. Tinted balms will shift a dyed blue.
• Take the bracelet off by sliding it sideways across the wrist rather than prying the tips apart.
• Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag, away from direct sun.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

To be eligible, the item must be unworn and in its original packaging, free from any odors (deodorant, perfume), stains, or signs of wear. The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
