MIAMI CUBAN CHAIN SILVER 9 MM

The largest flat surfaces on any chain, in a mirror finish
A Miami Cuban link is flattened and polished across its face, and at 9 mm those faces are the biggest uninterrupted planes of metal you will find on a chain of any design. Put a mirror-bright rhodium surface on them and the chain stops shining and starts reflecting. A rope scatters light into sparkle. A narrow chain throws a thin line. A 9 mm Miami in rhodium returns the room: the window behind you, the color of your shirt, the light above the table. That is a different visual event, and it is only available at this width in this link.
Rhodium, which is why it will never go grey
Rhodium is a platinum-group metal, rarer than gold, and it is what jewelers plate onto white gold to keep it white. It does not oxidize. Sterling silver blackens because silver reacts with sulfur in air and sweat, and every sterling chain eventually gets polished back to life. Miami Cuban Chain Silver contains no silver. It is 316L stainless steel coated in rhodium, and a mirror finish that cannot tarnish stays a mirror.
The set, and why it works
Chains layered on the neck need contrast. A neck-and-wrist pairing needs the opposite: sameness. The eye reads a repeated link across two points on the body as deliberate, which is why a Miami Cuban chain with Miami Cuban Bracelet Silver looks planned while two unrelated pieces look accumulated. Same link, same finish, two distances apart.
What you are actually wearing
A 316L stainless steel Miami Cuban chain, 9 mm wide, coated in rhodium. Three lengths: Small at 52 cm (20.5 inches), Medium at 56 cm (22 inches), Large at 60 cm (23.6 inches). The gold version is Miami Cuban Chain Gold. Narrower chains, including the 8 mm LA Cuban Chain Silver, sit in the men's chains collection.
Designed in Los Angeles since 2020. Ships gift-boxed.

316L stainless steel under rhodium
The 316L core is the structure: it does not rust, does not bend out of shape, and does not turn skin green. The rhodium layer is the appearance. Rhodium is a platinum-group metal that does not oxidize, which means this chain has no tarnish chemistry available to it at all. Sterling silver blackens because silver reacts with sulfur. There is no silver here.
Water, and what we recommend
Rain, sweat, and washing your hands are not a problem. Caligio recommends taking the chain off before a pool, the ocean, and anything involving soap or cleaning products. A coating is a surface, and chlorine, salt, and detergent go after surfaces long before they reach steel.
A mirror shows fingerprints, and nothing else
The flat polished faces that make this chain reflect are also the faces that hold a fingerprint. This is worth knowing because it is the only maintenance the chain ever asks for: a mark that would be invisible on a rope or a narrow link is obvious on a 9 mm mirror. Ten seconds with a dry cloth clears it. There is no polishing, no dipping, and no tarnish to fight, which is the entire advantage of rhodium over sterling.
Care
- Take it off before pools, salt water, soap, and the gym.
- Put it on last, after cologne, aftershave, and hair product.
- Wipe the flat faces with a soft dry cloth. Silver polish and jewelry dips strip surface layers and have no purpose here.
- Store it hanging or laid out straight, never coiled tight and never tangled with other metal.
- Rotate it every few months so a different section sits at the back of the neck, where a shirt collar does most of the rubbing.
Skin sensitivity
Green marks on the neck come from copper alloys. This chain is built on 316L stainless steel, nickel-free and copper-free, which is the safe default for reactive skin and continuous daily wear.
What is a Miami Cuban chain?
A Miami Cuban is a Cuban link chain with a tighter specification: links wider than they are tall, flattened, polished on the face, and set so closely that the gaps nearly close. At 9 mm those polished faces are the largest flat planes found on any chain design.
Will this silver chain tarnish?
No, and it cannot. Sterling silver blackens because silver reacts with sulfur compounds in air and sweat. Miami Cuban Chain Silver contains no silver: it is 316L stainless steel coated in rhodium, a platinum-group metal that does not oxidize.
Why does this chain look brighter than other silver chains?
Because it reflects instead of shining. Rhodium is more reflective than silver, and the flat polished faces of a 9 mm Miami link are large enough to act as mirrors. You see the room in the chain, not just a highlight on it.
Should a chain and bracelet match?
Yes, and for the opposite reason that two neck chains should not. The eye reads a repeated link across two points on the body as deliberate. A Miami Cuban chain worn with Miami Cuban Bracelet Silver looks planned; two unrelated pieces look accumulated.
What length Miami Cuban chain should I buy?
Twenty and a half inches rests on the collarbone, 22 inches sits just below it, and 23.6 inches lands mid-chest over a t-shirt. A 9 mm chain holds a line, so the wrong length shows immediately. All three are available.
Is stainless steel better than silver for a chain?
For daily wear, on both counts that matter. 316L stainless steel is harder than sterling silver, so the links resist the wear that happens where one touches the next, and rhodium removes the tarnish problem entirely.
How should I store a wide chain?
Hanging, or laid out straight. Coiled tight in a drawer, a 9 mm chain forces every link to sit at an angle it was not built for, and the flat faces rub instead of sliding. A chain stored flat looks new for years longer.
To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.
