Prime Black Rock Leather Chain
Prime Black Rock Leather Chain
Prime Black Rock is a leather chain bracelet for men: a polished steel box chain running down the centre, black braided leather framing it on both edges, and a cord lacing stitched over the chain between every single link.
The chain is not attached to the leather. It is woven into it. That is the difference between this and every leather bracelet with a metal plate glued or riveted on. There is no join to come apart, because there is no join - the three materials are one braid.
Chain and leather have spent a century on opposite sides of the drawer. One is jewellery, the other is a watch strap. Here they are the same object, and on the wrist the steel glints through the black braid like light through shutters - dark at a glance, alive in motion.
The clasp closes itself. A magnet seats the two ends the moment they meet, then a mechanical snap latch locks over the connection. One hand, no looking, held all day by double fixation.
316L stainless steel box chain with genuine braided leather. Small up to 6.7 inches, Medium up to 7.2, Large up to 8, and a Rock XL up to 8.5. $49. Part of the Prime collection. Ships gift-boxed from Los Angeles.

What a leather chain bracelet actually is, and what makes this one different
Most bracelets sold as leather-and-metal are leather with a metal part added: a plate riveted on, a section of chain joined at the ends, a magnet housing that happens to be steel. The two materials meet at a join, and the join is the weak point - it is where the piece looks assembled rather than made, and it is where it eventually fails.
Prime Black Rock has no join. A polished steel box chain runs the centre line of the bracelet, braided black leather frames it along both edges, and a continuous cord lacing binds the three together, passing over the chain between every single link. The chain is not attached to the leather; it is woven into it. Take the leather away and the chain falls apart, take the chain away and the leather has no spine. That construction is why the bracelet holds its shape and why it reads as one object rather than two materials sharing a wrist.
Chain and leather, finally in the same place
These are the two materials of men's jewellery and they have spent a century on opposite sides of the drawer. Chain is jewellery: bright, linked, visible. Leather is a strap: matte, quiet, structural. Wearing both usually means wearing two bracelets and hoping they get along. This is one piece that is both, which is why it does something neither can do alone - the steel glints through the black braid as the wrist turns, so the bracelet reads dark from across a room and alive up close.
Rock is in the name for a reason
Leather and chain is the oldest pairing on any stage - the jacket and the chain - compressed here into a single bracelet instead of a whole outfit. It is the Prime for the evening half of a wardrobe: it works over a black tee the way the plain braided models work under a shirt cuff. If the rest of your wrist is quiet, this is the piece that carries the weight.
The clasp, and why it is not magnet-only
Bring the ends near each other and a magnet seats them the moment they meet - no aiming. Then a mechanical snap latch clicks shut over the connection and takes the load. One hand, no looking, double fixation all day. The second half matters: a magnet alone opens on a sleeve or in a car door, and this bracelet has real weight to it. On a piece this dimensional the clean flat clasp also does a visual job, letting the weave be the only event on the wrist.
Two materials, two care rules
The steel needs nothing - 316L does not rust or tarnish, and it has no coating to wear through. The leather sets the rules: keep it dry, because water swells the fibres and they dry back stiff. A laced construction also holds moisture longer than a flat strap, so this one is stricter about it than most. Off before showers, pools, and the sea.
Where it sits in the range
The warmer twin is the Prime Brown Rock, the same weave in dark brown. Bigger wrists are covered by the Prime Black Rock XL up to 8.5 inches. If it is the woven box chain that interests you rather than the leather, the Box Chain collection runs the same idea with marine cord instead. The quieter leather models live beside it in the Prime collection.
Sizing, and which wrist
The average adult male wrist is roughly 7 to 7.5 inches, so Medium, fitting up to 7.2, covers most men. Small goes to 6.7 and Large to 8, with the XL reaching 8.5. Measure with a tape or a strip of paper just below the wrist bone. As for which wrist: there is no rule, whatever anyone tells you. The practical answer is the wrist without the watch - and that applies double to a bracelet with steel in it.

Two materials, and the leather sets the rules
The steel needs nothing at all. 316L does not rust, does not tarnish, and has no coating anywhere to wear through at the clasp or along the underside. The leather is the part that decides how this bracelet ages, and leather has one law: it lasts if it stays dry.
A laced construction holds water longer
Worth knowing, because it makes this stricter than a plain leather bracelet. Water gets into the lacing between the chain links and sits there, where a flat strap would have shed it. Off before showers, pools, and the sea. If it does get caught in rain, towel it and let it dry at room temperature - never on a radiator or a dashboard, because heat is what cracks leather.
Keeping the steel bright
The chain runs down the centre where it catches most of the light and most of the skin contact, so film from cologne, sunscreen, and hand cream shows on it faster than on the leather. Put the bracelet on last, after everything you spray or rub in, and wipe the chain with a soft dry cloth now and then.
Care
- Keep it dry. Off before showers, pools, the sea, and the gym.
- Put it on last, after cologne, sunscreen, and hand cream.
- Wipe the chain with a soft dry cloth. Nothing abrasive.
- If it gets wet, dry it at room temperature, never with heat.
- Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag rather than loose in a drawer.
What is this bracelet called?
Prime Black Rock, a men's leather chain bracelet by Caligio. A 316L stainless steel box chain runs down the centre with black braided leather on both edges, laced together into one piece. Three sizes, $49, designed in Los Angeles.
Is the chain glued or riveted to the leather?
Neither. It is woven in. A cord lacing passes over the chain between every single link and binds it to the braided leather on both sides, so there is no join anywhere - which means there is no join to come apart. Most leather-and-metal bracelets are leather with a metal part added; this one is a single braid of three materials.
How do I style it?
Over a black tee, with a jacket, in the evening. It carries the wrist by itself, so keep the other arm to the watch and do not stack anything beside it. The steel means it works with a steel watch case without clashing, unlike a leather-only bracelet worn next to metal.
Is it heavy?
It has real weight, and that is deliberate. A steel chain running the full length gives it more presence than any leather-only bracelet in the line, so it settles on the wrist instead of moving around on it. If you want something you forget you are wearing, take one of the plain braided models instead.
Is a magnetic clasp secure?
This one is, because the magnet is only half the system. A magnetic pull seats the ends the moment they meet, and a mechanical snap latch locks over the connection - double fixation. That second half matters more here than anywhere, because a bracelet with a steel chain in it has weight behind it if a magnet alone lets go.
Black or brown?
Black reads sharper and more evening - the steel contrasts hard against dark leather, which is the version that works over a black tee and a jacket. Brown is warmer and easier in daylight, and it ties into the tan and brown leather most men already own. Same construction either way.
Why is it $49?
Caligio has held one rule since the start: no bracelet over $100. A 316L steel box chain hand-laced into braided leather is normally priced well beyond this by the time it reaches a shop window. You are paying for the chain, the leather, and the construction rather than for the markup between the workshop and the wrist.
Which size should I order?
The average adult male wrist is roughly 7 to 7.5 inches, so Medium, fitting up to 7.2, covers most men. Small goes to 6.7 and Large to 8, with a Rock XL reaching 8.5. Measure with a tape or a strip of paper just below the wrist bone and order to that number.
Which wrist should a man wear a bracelet on?
There is no rule, whatever anyone tells you. The practical answer is the wrist without the watch, so the two do not knock against each other - and that applies double here, because this one has a steel chain in it.
Can I wear it in water?
No. The steel would be perfectly happy; the leather would not. Water swells leather fibres and they dry back stiff, and a laced construction holds water in the weave longer than a flat strap would. Off before showers, pools, and the sea, and never dry it with heat.
Will it turn my wrist green?
No. Green marks come from copper reacting with sweat, which is why brass and cheap alloy do it. Both the chain and the clasp here are 316L stainless steel, which contains no copper and no nickel.
What is a box chain?
A chain built from square links that sit flush against one another, so the band has four flat sides and reads as one continuous surface rather than a row of separate parts. Those flat sides are also why a cord can be laced over it - the lacing has somewhere to sit, which would not work on a rope chain.
Is it a good gift?
It is the one to give when a plain leather bracelet would be too safe. The construction is unusual enough to be worth pointing out, the clasp means it gets worn rather than put in a drawer, and Medium fits most men if you cannot measure the wrist. It arrives gift-boxed from Los Angeles.
To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.
