The pattern only shows up when someone is close

Python scales are not printed onto anything. Each one is a separate plate of keratin, overlapping its neighbor the way roof tiles overlap, and the boundary between them catches light at a different angle than the flat of the scale does. On a dyed black python this produces a strange effect: from across a room the bracelet reads as plain black leather. From two feet away the whole surface breaks into a grid of scales, each one edged in a thin line of shadow. Nobody notices Wild Black Python until they are close enough to shake your hand.

What exotic leather normally costs

Python and stingray are the materials luxury houses keep for their most expensive small goods, and the price of an exotic-leather bracelet in that market is set by the name on the box rather than by the hide inside it. No two are the same, and that is the proof

Every cord is cut from a different piece of leather, so scale size, spacing, and grain shift from one bracelet to the next. A perfectly uniform python pattern means the pattern was printed. Yours will not match the photograph exactly, and it will not match your friend's.

What you are actually wearing

A single 5 mm cord of genuine python leather, dyed black, closed with a stainless steel snap clasp. Three sizes: Small up to 6.7 inches, Medium up to 7 inches, Large up to 8 inches. Genuine python leather

Python is leather with an unusual surface: overlapping keratin scales, each one hinged at its base so the whole cord stays flexible. The scales are hard. What lies under them is skin, and skin behaves like skin.

Python is not waterproof

Do not swim in it, shower in it, or leave it soaking. Water pulls the natural oils out of leather; the fiber stiffens as it dries, and the next bend cracks it. Scale edges are the first place that damage shows, because they are the thinnest part of the surface. Occasional rain is not a problem. Repeated soaking, and heat applied to wet leather, are what ruin an exotic-leather bracelet. Caligio builds an entire waterproof bracelets collection for the wrist that lives in water.

Black hides less than you think

Dye sits deeper in the soft leather between the scales than on the hard scale itself, which is why a black python develops a subtle two-tone depth as it wears. That is the material aging correctly. Cracking, whitening, and a chalky look at the scale edges are the material drying out, and they are preventable.

Care

• Take it off before water, and put it on after cologne, sunscreen, and hand cream.
• If it gets wet, blot with a towel and dry at room temperature. Never a radiator, a hairdryer, or direct sun.
• Wipe along the scales with a dry cloth, never against them. Running a cloth backward lifts scale edges.
• Condition two or three times a year with a small amount of leather balm on a cloth, worked in gently.
• Wipe the steel clasp with a soft dry cloth.
• Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag, away from direct sun.

Skin sensitivity

The clasp is stainless steel, nickel-free and copper-free, which is the safe default for reactive skin. Green wrist marks come from copper alloys and will not happen here.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

If you ordered the wrong size, color, or simply would like to return the product, you can do so within 30 days from the delivery date. To be eligible, the item must be unworn and in its original packaging, free from any odors (deodorant, perfume), stains, or signs of wear. The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
