Why pale blue looks brightest on black

The eye judges a color by what surrounds it. Bright silver and gold each do something to aquamarine: silver makes it icy, gold makes it warmer and more saturated. Dark gunmetal does something else. The clasp is the security

A tennis bracelet has nothing to catch it if the closure fails: no safety chain, no elastic, no cord. This one closes with a black box clasp and a double safety latch. Care for it like fine jewelry

The band is brass finished with gunmetal black plating, and plating keeps its depth longest when it stays dry. So the one habit worth building is simple: take the bracelet off before the shower, the pool, and the gym, and put it on after perfume, lotion, and sunscreen. Two seconds a day keep the black deep and the blue clear.

Two things to watch

On a dark band the enemy is friction: edges that rub against a desk, a watch case, or harder bracelets are where any plating shows wear first, so wear it on the wrist opposite your watch or stack it with leather and cord. On light stones the enemy is film: sunscreen and skin oil under the settings turn clear blue cloudy. A dry, lint-free cloth handles the second, and a little care handles the first.

The clasp

The box clasp and its two side levers are the only moving parts. Press the tongue in until you feel the click, then fold both levers down flat. To open, lift the levers and release the tongue instead of pulling on the stone line.

Care

• Take it off before the shower, the pool, the gym, and the beach.
• Put it on last, after perfume, lotion, and sunscreen.
• Wipe with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. No polishing pastes, jewelry dips, or abrasive cloths, which can wear through the black plating.
• If it gets wet, pat it dry right away.
• Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, which can loosen a prong.

Skin

The bracelet is nickel-free and lead-free, the two metals most often behind jewelry reactions. Keeping it dry also keeps the black plating intact over the brass base, which is what keeps it comfortable on the skin.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.
