The frame repeats what the surface is already doing

Stingray is a field of calcified beads, each one a small dome, and each dome catches light at its crown. Look at a black stingray cuff in a lit room and you are looking at hundreds of separate points of light scattered across a dark ground. Now run a gold-tone edge around that field. The frame gathers all those scattered highlights into one continuous line and holds them. The metal is not an accent bolted to the leather. It is the same optical event, drawn as a border.

Three layers, one of which is alive

The 316L stainless steel frame is the structure and needs nothing. The gold tone on it is a finish, and a finish is a surface. The stingray leather is skin carrying a coat of calcified beads. The beads are almost indestructible; the hide beneath them is not.

Stingray is not waterproof

Do not swim in it, shower in it, or leave it soaking. The beads do not care, but water pulls the natural oils out of the skin beneath them; the leather stiffens as it dries and loses the flexible bed the beads sit in. Occasional rain is not a problem. Repeated soaking, and heat applied to wet leather, are what ruin an exotic-leather bracelet. Caligio builds an entire waterproof bracelets collection for the wrist that lives in water.

The frame is the part that shows wear first

On this cuff the leather is the durable half and the gold tone is the vulnerable one, which reverses what most people assume. A gold finish responds to chemistry rather than to use: soap, chlorine, perfume, and polishing compounds all attack it, while a decade of wearing does very little. Wipe it dry, keep it away from cleaning products, and never let it near a jewelry dip.

Care

• Take it off before water, and put it on after cologne, sunscreen, and hand cream.
• If it gets wet, blot with a towel and dry at room temperature. Never a radiator, a hairdryer, or direct sun.
• Brush the leather with a dry soft-bristle brush when the black starts looking grey. Debris fills the valleys, not the domes.
• Wipe the gold frame with a soft dry cloth only. No polish, no dips, no ultrasonic cleaner.
• Condition the leather two or three times a year with a small amount of balm on a cloth.
• Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag, away from direct sun.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
