Why lime is seen first

This is not an opinion about taste. The human eye contains three types of colour receptor, and their combined sensitivity peaks at around 555 nanometres - the yellow-green part of the spectrum. That single fact is why fire engines in many countries are lime rather than red, why high-visibility vests are this colour, and why tennis balls stopped being white. Put that wavelength on a wrist and the bracelet is registered before the watch, the shirt, or anything else on the arm. It is the most efficient colour there is at being noticed, and it is doing that work whether or not anyone comments on it.

The loudest cord, and the easiest one to buy

On a normal bracelet a colour this strong is a commitment: you either want that much attention on your wrist for the life of the piece, or you buy something safer and quieter. That trade does not exist here. The lime is the half you can remove, and a plain steel box chain is waiting underneath. Buy the loud version, wear it while you enjoy it, and when you want a quieter wrist the quieter bracelet is already on it. The risk that usually comes with a colour like this has been engineered out.

Silver keeps it electric, gold turns it chartreuse

Metal is never neutral around colour. Bare steel is cool and slightly grey, so it takes nothing away from the cord and the lime stays sharp, acid, almost fluorescent. Warm gold pulls the yellow half of any green forward, so the identical cord on the gold version reads richer and softer, closer to a chartreuse or an olive than to a highlighter. Same cord, same chain, two genuinely different greens - which is worth knowing before choosing, because the photographs cannot fully show it.

What a box chain is

A box chain is built from square links that seat flush against each other, so the band carries four flat sides and reads as one continuous surface rather than a row of separate parts. A Cuban link uses angled twisted faces that throw light in every direction, which is why it reads loud. A rope bracelet is round and textile in character, which is why it reads casual. A box chain sits between them - metal, but flat and quiet - and those flat sides are also the reason a cord can be laced through it at all. The cord has somewhere to sit. It would not work on a rope chain and would look wrong on a Cuban link.

How the cord comes off

The cord is one continuous strand with both ends fixed under a small metal crimp near the clasp. One cut at the crimp, then pull, and the whole thing exits in about five seconds. There is no knot at each link to pick out, which is the difference between this being a feature and being a twenty-minute repair job. The change goes one way: the same cord does not go back on, and returns are not possible after it has been cut. There is no hurry either.

Two widths, both stated

The chain gauge is 5mm, and that is the classic bracelet you are left with. With the cord laced through it, the bracelet wears closer to 6mm on the wrist. Both numbers are here because a corded chain honestly has two measurements, and quoting only one is how a bracelet ends up looking thicker in person than it did in the photograph.

Which wrist, and what size

There is no rule about which wrist, and anyone stating one confidently is inventing it. The practical answer is the wrist without the watch, so the two do not knock against each other - which for most right-handed men means the right. On sizing: the average adult male wrist falls between roughly 7 and 7.5 inches, which is why Medium is the size most men need. Measure with a tape or a strip of paper, add about half an inch, and buy to that number rather than guessing.

Two materials, one routine

Steel and marine-grade cord are both unaffected by water, which is the practical advantage this combination has over leather. Rinse the bracelet under clean water when it needs it and dry it with a soft cloth. Nothing here swells, stiffens, or has to be kept out of the rain.

The metal needs nothing at all

316L stainless steel does not tarnish, does not rust, and has no coating anywhere on it to wear through at the clasp or along the underside. Its chromium content forms a self-repairing oxide layer, which is the reason the same alloy family is used for surgical instruments. The colour is the metal itself, all the way through.

A bright cord shows dirt sooner

This is the one practical cost of a colour this light. Lime shows what a black cord hides, so a rinse every couple of weeks keeps it looking the way it did in the box. Let the water run through the weave rather than wiping only the surface, then dry it properly - dirt on a corded chain collects under the cord, not on top of it.

Care

• Rinse under clean water and dry with a soft cloth. More often on a light cord than a dark one.
• Put it on after cologne and skincare rather than before.
• Chlorine is worth avoiding over time, as it is with anything.
• Use a soft dry cloth on the metal. Nothing abrasive.
• Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag rather than loose in a drawer.
• When you cut the cord, cut at the crimp near the clasp and pull the strand out whole.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.
