Pattern needs surface

A speckled rope on a small wrist shows you three inches of pattern before it disappears under the hand. On a 9 inch wrist you see the whole thing: the white fibers repeating around the full circumference, the rhythm of the flecks, the way the navy behind them darkens at the shadow line. Texture is one of the few design elements that genuinely improves with scale, and a large wrist is the only place this bracelet gets to be read the way it was drawn.

The flecks are fibers, not printing

White strands are spun into the navy rope during manufacture, the way rope makers have always run a contrasting tracer through a line to identify it. Nothing sits on the surface, so the speckle cannot flake, fade at the contact points, or wash out. Ten years of wear leaves the pattern exactly where it started.

What you are actually wearing

Two strands of navy nylon rope with white fibers spun through them, closed by a polished 316L stainless steel D-shackle, fixed to the bracelet and held shut by a screw pin. One plus size, up to 9 inches, and turning the pin out to reposition the rope adds about one more. Waterproof materials and hypoallergenic steel, though Caligio recommends taking it off before a swim.

Where it sits in your rotation

Maximum contrast against a white shirt, easy detail against black, and correct with denim in the way only navy is. Below 8 inches, the standard Binate Blue Dotted is the right choice. Nylon rope and 316L stainless steel

Neither material on Binate Navy Blue Dotted XL is harmed by water. Nylon does not absorb it, does not rot, and does not lose strength when wet, which is why it replaced natural fiber on working boats. The 316L stainless steel D-shackle does not rust, does not tarnish, and does not turn skin green. There is nothing organic in this bracelet.

Water, and what we recommend

Rain, sweat, and washing your hands are not a problem. Caligio still recommends taking the bracelet off before swimming, a long shower, or a soak. Water does not break this bracelet. Time spent wet is what slowly dulls the polish on steel and stiffens any rope, and a bracelet that comes off for the pool and goes back on afterward keeps its shape for years rather than seasons.

The pattern is structural

The white flecks are separate fibers spun into the rope during manufacture, not a print applied to the finished cord. Nothing sits on the surface, so nothing can flake, fade at the contact points, or wash out. On a 9 inch bracelet, where more rope meets more of the world, that matters more than it does on a short one.

Care

• Take it off before swimming or a long soak. The materials survive water; the finish lasts longer without it.
• If it does get wet, rinse with fresh water and let it dry naturally at room temperature, away from heat.
• If the rope needs cleaning, use mild soap and cool water. Never bleach: white fibers in a dark rope are the one place where bleaching shows immediately.
• Wipe the steel shackle with a soft dry cloth to keep the polish bright.
• Check the screw pin every few weeks and finger-tighten it. A pin that walks loose over months is the only way this bracelet can come off on its own.
• Keep spare screw pins on hand. They are the smallest part, the easiest to lose during a size change, and they live in the bracelet parts collection.
• Store it in the Caligio pouch bag, away from direct sun.

Skin sensitivity

Green wrist marks come from copper alloys. This shackle is 316L stainless steel, nickel-free and copper-free, the alloy dermatologists point to as the safe default for reactive skin and continuous daily wear.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

To be eligible, the item must be unworn and in its original packaging, free from any odors (deodorant, perfume), stains, or signs of wear. The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
