Black is not a color so much as the absence of one, and putting it on an exotic leather removes the easiest thing about the object. There is no turquoise to notice, no red to explain. Everything Infinity Black Stingray has to offer is the surface, and stingray has more surface than any other leather on earth: thousands of calcified beads, each roughly as hard as tooth enamel, set into the hide as separate domes. In black they stop being a pattern you look at and become a structure you read. Light collects at the crown of every bead and disappears in the valleys, so the bracelet is matte and lit at the same time, depending entirely on where you stand.

Fingertips resolve discrete texture far better than the eye does. A continuous surface, however fine, registers as one thing. A field of separate hard points registers as many, and the hand reads that multiplicity as value long before the brain has worked out what it is holding. This is not a metaphor about luxury. Why a mineral leather survives a bending cuff

Ask how an armored surface goes on something designed to flex. The answer is that stingray is a mosaic and not a shell. The beads are separate nodes sitting in a leather bed rather than one continuous plate, so when the 316L frame opens or closes, the nodes shift a fraction relative to each other and nothing is asked to stretch. A rigid unbroken surface would craze on the first adjustment. This one does not, which is precisely why stingray belongs on a cuff.

An open cuff on a 316L stainless steel frame, faced in genuine black stingray leather, with no clasp. Three sizes, which are three degrees of opening: Small up to 6.7 inches, Medium up to 7.2 inches, Large up to 7.7 inches. Unisex. A mineral surface on a living one

Stingray is leather carrying a coat of calcified beads, close to tooth enamel in hardness. The beads are almost indestructible. The hide holding them is not, and the 316L frame beneath needs nothing at all. Everything below is about the hide.

Stingray is not waterproof

Do not swim in it, shower in it, or leave it soaking. The beads do not care, but water pulls the natural oils out of the skin beneath them; the leather stiffens as it dries and loses the flexible bed the beads sit in. Occasional rain is not a problem. Repeated soaking, and heat applied to wet leather, are what ruin an exotic-skin bracelet. Caligio builds an entire waterproof bracelets collection for the wrist that lives in water.

Clean between the beads, not across them

Everything a cloth cannot reach ends up in the valleys. Skin oil, dust, and cologne settle in the gaps rather than on the domes, which is why an unwashed stingray looks grey before it looks dirty: the highlights survive and the shadows fill in. A dry soft-bristle brush lifts it out in seconds. Never dig with a fingernail, and never use a wet cloth to chase it.

Care

• Take it off before water, and put it on after cologne, sunscreen, and hand cream.
• If it gets wet, blot with a towel and dry at room temperature. Never a radiator, a hairdryer, or direct sun.
• Brush the surface with a dry soft-bristle brush when the black starts looking grey.
• Condition two or three times a year with a small amount of leather balm on a cloth.
• Take the bracelet off by sliding it sideways across the wrist rather than prying the tips apart.
• Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag, away from direct sun.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days.
