The one color that changes with its metal

Purple is unusual before anything is done to it. Every other color in this collection sits on one side of the temperature line: brown, red, and gold are warm, blue, green, and turquoise are cool. Purple is made of both, red and blue at once, which means it does not have a fixed character. The metal around it decides. Infinity Gold Stingray Purple is genuine stingray leather on a gold-tone 316L stainless steel frame, and the warm frame pulls the red half forward: the cuff reads rich, deep, and closer to ceremony than to street.

Three tones on one wrist

Stingray leather, also called shagreen, carries thousands of calcified beads, each roughly as hard as tooth enamel and each paler than the ground it grows from. Add a gold-tone frame and this becomes the most tonally layered piece in the collection: warm metal at the edges, pale crowns across the surface, deep purple underneath them. Nothing here is flat, and the whole thing changes between daylight and a lit room.

What it goes with

Gold jewelry, first of all: a gold watch case, a gold ring, a gold chain. After that, the colors purple has always sat beside without effort, cream, grey, charcoal, black, and white. It is not a background piece and was not meant to be. Worn alone on an otherwise plain wrist it does the entire job.

Why a mineral leather survives a bending cuff

Stingray is a mosaic, not a shell. The beads are separate nodes sitting in a leather bed rather than one continuous plate, so when the 316L frame opens or closes, the nodes shift a fraction relative to each other and nothing is asked to stretch. A rigid unbroken surface would craze on the first adjustment. Three sizes are three degrees of opening: Small up to 6.7 inches, Medium up to 7.2, Large up to 7.7. A mineral surface on a living one

Stingray is leather carrying a coat of calcified beads, close to tooth enamel in hardness. The beads are almost indestructible. The hide holding them is not, and the 316L frame beneath needs nothing at all. The gold tone on that frame is a plated finish, and a finish is a surface. Everything else below is about the hide.

Stingray is not waterproof

Do not swim in it, shower in it, or leave it soaking. The beads do not care, but water pulls the natural oils out of the skin beneath them; the leather stiffens as it dries and loses the flexible bed the beads sit in. Occasional rain is not a problem. Repeated soaking, and heat applied to wet leather, are what ruin an exotic-skin bracelet. Caligio builds an entire waterproof bracelets collection for the wrist that lives in water.

Keep the three tones separate

What makes this cuff worth looking at is that the metal, the bead crowns, and the ground each hold their own light. Oil is what collapses that: skin oil, cologne, and hand cream settle into the valleys between the beads and film over the frame, and the three layers start reading as one dull surface long before anything looks dirty. A dry soft-bristle brush across the leather and a soft dry cloth on the frame bring all three back. Never dig with a fingernail, and never chase film with a wet cloth.

Strong sun is the one real risk

Deep colors hide everyday marks well, and this one hides more than any pale leather will. Months of direct light are the exception, since any dark dye lifts under strong sun. Store it flat in its pouch, away from a windowsill and off a car dashboard.

Care

• Take it off before water, and put it on after cologne, sunscreen, and hand cream.
• If it gets wet, blot with a towel and dry at room temperature. Never a radiator, a hairdryer, or direct sun.
• Brush the surface with a dry soft-bristle brush when the ground starts looking dull.
• Condition two or three times a year with a small amount of leather balm on a cloth.
• Wipe the gold-tone frame with a soft dry cloth only. No polish, no dips, no ultrasonic cleaner.
• Take the bracelet off by sliding it sideways across the wrist rather than prying the tips apart.
• Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag, out of direct sun.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days.
