The only material here that improves

Steel stays exactly as it left the factory. Nylon holds its color and its shape for years and never changes. Leather is the one material in the Caligio catalog that gets better with use: it softens against the wrist, darkens at the contact points, and takes on a surface that belongs to one person and cannot be bought new. Sailor Black is the cleanest place to watch that happen, because black leather records age as depth rather than as damage.

The single braid

This is a single braided rope of genuine leather, not the doubled construction used on Foss and Endeavour. The difference is on the wrist: a slimmer profile, less height above the skin, and a bracelet that slides under a shirt cuff without argument. Sailor Black is the anchor bracelet for a man who wears a watch on the same arm.

What you are actually wearing

Braided genuine black leather closed by a machined 316L surgical stainless steel anchor. The anchor is the mechanism, not an ornament: the leather hooks into its arms and the tension of the bracelet holds it there. Three sizes, unisex. Leather, so not waterproof. Rain and humidity now and then will not hurt it; swimming, showering, and soaking will.

Where it sits in your rotation

Black leather is the one hide that has no wrong outfit. It reads correct against a suit, a black jacket, grey, denim, and white. When the wrist above 8 inches needs the same piece, Sailor Black XL reaches 8.6 inches. The color counterpart is Sailor White and Blue. Genuine leather and 316L steel

Sailor Black combines two materials with opposite needs. The 316L surgical stainless steel anchor is indifferent to everything: it does not rust, tarnish, or turn skin green, and water does nothing to it. The braided leather is the part that asks for attention, and it is also the part that will look better in two years than it does today.

Not waterproof, and what that actually means

Do not swim in it, do not shower in it, and do not leave it soaking. Caligio does not recommend wetting leather at all. That said, a bracelet caught in rain or worn through a humid afternoon has not been damaged. Blot it with a dry cloth, let it dry at room temperature away from radiators and direct sun, and it will be exactly as it was. What ruins leather is heat applied to wet leather, and repeated soaking, not one wet walk home.

How black leather ages

Black does not fade toward another color the way brown or tan can. It deepens. The braid softens where it crosses the wrist bone and picks up a low shine at the points that touch a shirt cuff. Nothing about that process needs to be prevented, and none of it can be reproduced by a bracelet taken out of a box.

Care

• Keep it dry. Take it off before swimming, showering, and the gym.
• If it gets wet, blot with a dry cloth and dry at room temperature. Never use a hairdryer, a radiator, or direct sun.
• Wipe the steel anchor with a soft dry cloth to keep the polish bright.
• Apply a small amount of neutral leather conditioner once or twice a year if the braid feels dry. A little is enough.
• Store it in the Caligio pouch bag, flat, away from heat.
• Never use bleach, alcohol, abrasive cleaners, or ultrasonic machines on leather.

If you want a bracelet you never take off

Leather is not the material for that, and no honest brand will tell you otherwise. The waterproof bracelets collection holds the pieces built for water: nylon rope on steel, and solid steel cuffs.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

If you ordered the wrong size, color, or simply would like to return the product, you can do so within 30 days from the delivery date. To be eligible, the item must be unworn and in its original packaging, free from any odors (deodorant, perfume), stains, or signs of wear. The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
