Orange is the working colour of rope

This is the rare case where a colour on a bracelet is not a styling decision. Climbing line, marine rescue rope, rigging, tow line - when a cord has to be found fast against water, rock, or snow, it gets made in this orange. The cord laced through this chain is marine-grade, so the colour it arrives in is the colour that material is genuinely produced in. Most coloured cord on jewellery is dyed to a fashion palette and could have been any shade. This one could not.

The material and the colour agree, and so does the metal

316L stainless steel is the alloy specified for marine hardware, because it resists salt water where ordinary steel does not. Put marine-grade cord through a marine-grade chain and the whole object is consistent - not a design reference to rope and boats, but the actual materials, doing the thing they were made to do, worn on a wrist. That is also why this bracelet handles water without any special care.

Maximum contrast against bare steel

Orange is the warmest colour on the wheel and bare steel is the coolest neutral, so neither one softens the other. There is no version of this pairing that reads subtle, which is the point of buying it. Compared to the neon lime version, orange reads warmer and more human: lime is clinical high-visibility, the colour of a vest on a construction site, while orange is rescue line and expedition gear. Same amount of attention, different associations entirely.

Silver or gold with this colour

The two metals do opposite things here, which is unusual. Steel is the coolest neutral and orange is the warmest colour, so on silver you get the maximum contrast in the collection and the cord stands completely apart from the chain. Gold and orange are neighbours on the colour wheel - gold is essentially a metallic orange-yellow - so on gold the two halves merge into one warm object instead. Silver to make the colour stand out, gold to make it fuse.

The loudest colours are the easiest ones to buy here

On a normal bracelet a colour like this is a commitment: you either want that much attention on your wrist for the life of the piece, or you buy something safer. That trade does not exist on a Duo. What a box chain is

A box chain is built from square links that seat flush against each other, so the band carries four flat sides and reads as one continuous surface rather than a row of separate parts. A Cuban link uses angled twisted faces that throw light in every direction, which is why it reads loud. A rope bracelet is round and textile in character, which is why it reads casual. A box chain sits between them - metal, but flat and quiet - and those flat sides are also the reason a cord can be laced through it at all.

How the cord comes off

The cord is one continuous strand with both ends fixed under a small metal crimp near the clasp. One cut at the crimp, then pull, and the whole thing exits in about five seconds. There is no knot at each link to pick out. The change goes one way: the same cord does not go back on, and returns are not possible after it has been cut. There is no hurry either.

Two widths, both stated

The chain gauge is 5mm, and that is the classic bracelet you are left with. With the cord laced through it, the bracelet wears closer to 6mm on the wrist. Both numbers are here because a corded chain honestly has two measurements, and quoting only one is how a bracelet ends up looking thicker in person than it did in the photograph.

Which wrist, and what size

There is no rule about which wrist, and anyone stating one confidently is inventing it. The practical answer is the wrist without the watch, so the two do not knock against each other - which for most right-handed men means the right. On sizing: the average adult male wrist falls between roughly 7 and 7.5 inches, which is why Medium is the size most men need. Measure with a tape or a strip of paper, add about half an inch, and buy to that number rather than guessing.

Both materials are marine-grade, which simplifies everything

316L steel is the alloy specified for marine hardware and the cord is the same rope material used on the water. Neither is affected by rain, sweat, or a rinse under the tap. Nothing swells, stiffens, or has to be kept dry. Rinse it, dry it with a soft cloth, and carry on - this is the least demanding bracelet in the collection.

The metal needs nothing at all

316L stainless steel does not tarnish, does not rust, and has no coating anywhere on it to wear through at the clasp or along the underside. Its chromium content forms a self-repairing oxide layer, which is why the same alloy family is used for surgical instruments as well as boat fittings.

A bright cord shows dirt sooner

The one practical cost of a colour this strong. Orange shows what black hides, so a rinse every couple of weeks keeps it looking the way it did in the box. Let the water run through the weave rather than wiping only the surface - on a corded chain, dirt collects under the cord rather than on top of it - then dry it properly.

Care

• Rinse under clean water and dry with a soft cloth. More often on a bright cord than a dark one.
• Put it on after cologne and skincare rather than before.
• Chlorine is worth avoiding over time, as it is with anything.
• Use a soft dry cloth on the metal. Nothing abrasive.
• Store it flat in the Caligio pouch bag rather than loose in a drawer.
• When you cut the cord, cut at the crimp near the clasp and pull the strand out whole.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.
