What the anchor actually meant

Before it was jewelry, the anchor was a promise. Sailors wore it inked on their forearms after crossing an ocean, and long before that it stood for the thing that holds when everything around it moves. Foss puts that object on the wrist at full size and lets it do the work: the polished steel anchor is the closure, not an ornament hung off one. Dark leather, doubled

Foss uses two ropes of dark genuine leather braided into a single body. The double braid gives it weight and a surface that catches light along the twists rather than reflecting it flat. There is no color contrast here and nothing competing with the steel; the entire piece is one dark tone interrupted by one bright object. That restraint is why Foss goes with a suit as easily as it goes with a leather jacket.

What you are actually wearing

Genuine leather and 316L steel

Foss combines two materials with opposite needs. The 316L surgical stainless steel anchor is indifferent to everything: it does not rust, tarnish, or turn skin green, and water does nothing to it. The braided leather is the part that asks for attention. Treated properly, dark leather is also the part that looks best after two years of wear.

Not waterproof, and what that actually means

Do not swim in it, do not shower in it, and do not leave it soaking. Caligio does not recommend wetting leather at all. That said, a bracelet caught in rain or worn through a humid afternoon has not been damaged. Blot it with a dry cloth, let it dry at room temperature away from radiators and direct sun, and it will be exactly as it was. What ruins leather is heat applied to wet leather, and repeated soaking, not one wet walk home.

Why dark leather is forgiving

A dark hide hides the small marks that daily wear leaves on any bracelet, and it darkens further at the contact points rather than staining. This is the practical reason Foss outsells every other piece in the Sailor line: it asks less of the person wearing it than a light leather does.

Care

• Keep it dry. Take it off before swimming, showering, and the gym.
• If it gets wet, blot with a dry cloth and dry at room temperature. Never use a hairdryer, a radiator, or direct sun.
• Wipe the steel anchor with a soft dry cloth to keep the polish bright.
• Apply a small amount of neutral leather conditioner once or twice a year if the braid feels dry. A little is enough.
• Store it in the Caligio pouch bag, flat, away from heat.
• Never use bleach, alcohol, abrasive cleaners, or ultrasonic machines on leather.

If you want a bracelet you never take off

Leather is not the material for that, and no honest brand will tell you otherwise. The waterproof bracelets collection holds the pieces built for water: nylon rope on steel, and solid steel cuffs.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

If you ordered the wrong size, color, or simply would like to return the product, you can do so within 30 days from the delivery date. To be eligible, the item must be unworn and in its original packaging, free from any odors (deodorant, perfume), stains, or signs of wear. The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
