Two ropes, not one

Binate means paired, and that is the whole design. Two nylon ropes run side by side around the wrist instead of one thicker cord, which produces a roughly 8 mm profile with a seam of shadow down the middle. A single rope of the same width would be heavier, stiffer, and would sit on the wrist rather than around it. Two thinner ropes bend independently, follow the wrist, and read as depth instead of as bulk. It is the difference between a bracelet you notice and a bracelet you feel.

The shackle that grows with you

The closure is a D-shackle in 316L stainless steel, fixed to the bracelet and held shut by a screw pin. The pin turns out by hand: that is how the bracelet opens, and it is also how the fit changes. Reposition the rope, thread the pin back through, and the bracelet gains about one size. Nothing is cut and nothing is permanent, so a wrist that changes across a summer keeps the same bracelet.

What you are actually wearing

Two strands of deep navy nylon rope closed by a polished 316L stainless steel D-shackle. Waterproof materials and hypoallergenic steel, though Caligio recommends taking it off before a swim. Three sizes, and the shackle adds roughly one more. Navy is the color that survives every outfit already in your closet, which is why it is the Binate people buy first and the one they replace last.

Nylon rope and 316L stainless steel

Neither material on Binate Blue is harmed by water. Nylon does not absorb it, does not rot, and does not lose strength when wet, which is why it replaced natural fiber on working boats. The 316L stainless steel D-shackle does not rust, does not tarnish, and does not turn skin green. There is nothing organic in this bracelet.

Water, and what we recommend

Rain, sweat, and washing your hands are not a problem. Caligio still recommends taking the bracelet off before swimming, a long shower, or a soak. Water does not break this bracelet. Time spent wet is what slowly dulls the polish on steel and stiffens any rope, and a bracelet that comes off for the pool and goes back on afterward keeps its shape for years rather than seasons.

The color is inside the fiber

The navy is dyed through the nylon rather than printed onto the surface, so there is no coating to fade at the points where the rope crosses a desk or a sleeve. Sun will lighten any rope eventually. Nothing else will.

Care

• Take it off before swimming or a long soak. The materials survive water; the finish lasts longer without it.
• If it does get wet, rinse with fresh water and let it dry naturally at room temperature, away from heat.
• If the rope needs cleaning, use mild soap and cool water. Never bleach.
• Wipe the steel shackle with a soft dry cloth to keep the polish bright.
• Check the screw pin every few weeks and finger-tighten it. A pin that walks loose over months is the only way this bracelet can come off on its own.
• Keep spare screw pins on hand. They are the smallest part, the easiest to lose during a size change, and they live in the bracelet parts collection.
• Store it in the Caligio pouch bag, away from direct sun.

Skin sensitivity

Green wrist marks come from copper alloys. This shackle is 316L stainless steel, nickel-free and copper-free, the alloy dermatologists point to as the safe default for reactive skin and continuous daily wear.

To define the correct sizing of your wrist, we highly recommend using a tape measure and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand. However, if you do not have a special measure, use a small piece of tape or a cord. Wrap it around your wrist and measure the length against a ruler.

To be eligible, the item must be unworn and in its original packaging, free from any odors (deodorant, perfume), stains, or signs of wear. The original gift box and velvet pouch must be included - returns without original packaging will not be accepted. Please note that a $9.99 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic returns and will be deducted from the amount refunded.

Once your return is approved, please send the item(s) back within 7 days. 

For exchanges within the US, your first exchange is completely free and will be dispatched within 5 business days after we receive and inspect the item. Subsequent exchanges are at the customer's expense.
